Joe Haden Wife, Brother, Family, Salary, Height, Weight

Joe Haden is an exceptional football player who currently plays in the National Football League (NFL), wearing the black and yellow colors of the Pittsburgh Steelers as number 23 (previously 21). The cornerback started his trade in high school, but he was playing quarterback and safety at that time. He had to switch to the cornerback position in his freshman year in college while lining up for the University of Florida Gators football team.

Although he is widely known as Joe Haden, his full name is Joseph Walter Haden III and he was born on April 14, 1989. His birthplace is Fort Washington, Maryland and he is the first of the five children of his parents, Joseph II and Zakiya Haden. All of his siblings are boys and are named Josh, Jordan, Jacob and Jonathan Haden.

He was enrolled in high school at Friendly High School and he was very active in the school football program and played as both a quarterback and a safety. He was not only involved in football but also in basketball, where he played as a point guard and helped his team win the title twice.

In football his record was also spectacular and in his senior year he led the friendly Patriots to the MPSSAA Class 3A State Championship with 14 wins and no losses. His 7,371 passing yards set a state record while his 80 touchdown passes were a joint Maryland state record. It also earned him a selection for the first All-American Bowl Offense-Defense in 2006.

When it was college time in 2007, Rivals.com rated Joe Haden as a 4-star rookie and, despite his interest in Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee and d others, he chose to go to the University of Florida. He played for the Florida Gators football team and was in the starting position as a cornerback in the first game of the season. He ended up starting every game for the Gators in his freshman year, missing just one game with a sprained ankle. Haden’s performances earned him a Southeastern Conference (SEC) freshman selection.

His sophomore year got even better as he played (and started) every game for the Gators that season, recording 87 tackles and 3 interceptions. The following year, he recorded 68 tackles, 4 interceptions and 3 quarterback sacks, earning him National Defensive Player of the Year recognition. Among his other accolades, he was named joint Most Valuable Player with Tim Tebow and was an All-SEC First Team selection before qualifying for the 2010 NFL Draft by dropping his final season (senior year) at the university.

Career and Salary

Joe Haden’s first team as a professional was the Cleveland Browns. He was picked 7th overall by the Browns in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, and a few months later sighed his first professional contract – a 5-year deal worth $50 million. He was the third choice halfback for the team behind Sheldon Brown and Eric Wright, but played in the season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After playing 16 games including seven in his debut, Joe Haden recorded 64 combined tackles (57 solo), 7 assists, 6 interceptions and one forced fumble.

In his next season, he became a starting cornerback and started his 15 games he has played in this season by finishing with a record 65 combined tackles (53 solo), 19 deflections per pass and one sack. He failed a test for banned substances in the 2012 season and was suspended for four games. Upon his return, he scored his first career touchdown in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals the following season (2013). He was also selected to his second Pro Bowl in December 2013 and was selected to the All-Pro Second Team in January 2014.

His contract was extended in 2014 with a $68 million guaranteed deal and a base salary of $11 million. Motivating, he recorded 73 combined tackles (58 solo) and 20 deflected passes, which was a career high as he was named to a second Pro Bowl. Injuries during the 2015 season (first, a groin injury, then a concussion) saw him play five games during the season.

Joe Haden’s refusal to take a pay cut in 2017 forced the Browns’ hand to release him after seven years. As a free agent, Haden reportedly rejected better offers to sign a three-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the same day (August 30) he was released by the Cleveland Browns – just hours apart. His contract with the Steelers was worth $27 million, with a signing bonus of $5.75 million and an annual salary of $9 million that will increase as the contract expires.

His first league game in the Steelers jersey was against his former side, the Cleaveland Browns, who he inspired to his current side. However, he would miss five games due to a fractured fibula. He came back and recorded 20 combined tackles (18 solo), one sack, one interception and 7 deflections.

Family – Dad, Brother

Joe Haden comes from a family of seven. His father, whose name he bears, is Joseph Haden Sr. and his mother is Zakiya Haden. He has four younger brothers three of whom also played college football. Josh played for Boston College as running back, Jordan for Toledo as safety, while Jonathan, the youngest of them, played running back for the University of Arizona.

Her brother, Jacob, is a Special Olympian as he suffers from a disorder that affects his ability to communicate properly. He is a responsibility of his brothers who have always been there for him, especially Haden. A childhood experience tells of Haden saving Jacob from drowning in a swimming pool at their grandmother’s house.

Who is Joe Haden’s wife?

Haden is happily married to the beautiful Iranian lady, Sarah Mahmoodshahi. Although nothing can be said about how they met, it is reported that they dated for a while before tying the nuptial knot. The wedding took place on June 29, 2013 at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Resort in Miami, Florida.

The ceremony was officiated by Haden, the Reverend Joseph Haden, her grandfather, had a mixture of Christian and Persian talent in balancing their two religious leanings with their cultural backgrounds. The lovebirds were blessed with a son named Joey who was born on September 10, 2016.

Height, weight and other facts

There are measurements adapted to each sport. That is, the minimum requirements for anyone who wants to play sports. For soccer, the emphasis is on weight rather than size (as is the case with basketball). Joe Haden, who weighs 88 kg, weighs 195 pounds. His height, on the other hand, is 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in).
